Concrete River (In - Progress)

Concrete River (2015-Ongoing) documents the complex relationship between Los Angeles and its most well-known waterway, the L.A. River. Through several years of exploration and conversations with individuals who use the river for recreation, refuge, and survival, I aim to highlight the river's importance as a natural resource and its multifaceted role in the region. The project's intimate portraits of the people and environment reveal the river's unexpected beauty and surreal interactions between nature and urban life along its banks. In capturing these dualities, this work offers a reflection on the intricate relationship between urban development and natural ecosystems, reminding us of the importance of preserving and celebrating our most precious resources.
